There have been new console rumors swirling about for a while now, with the gaming companies behind them saying very little about them. And with E3 coming to us next week, the rumor mill has been busier than ever. Gamers are wondering if we will see anything about the new consoles at this year’s E3. Sony is working on what seems to be an upgraded PS4, titled the PS4.5/Neo, Microsoft is supposedly making two new Xbox One consoles, and of course Nintendo has their Nintendo NX, which we know next to nothing about. If there were ever a time to unveil new/upgraded systems, E3 would be the place to do so, or at least you’d think so.
Back in March of this year, we started hearing rumors that Sony was working on an upgraded PS4. Since then, it has been said that the newer PS4, being called the PS4.5 and PS Neo at the moment, will have an upgraded CPU, GPU, and RAM and will also output a 4K video signal, while the storage drive will stay the same as the current PS4s. The system is said to supposedly be priced at $400 when it releases, and will most likely have a holiday release. Sony has not said whether or not we will be seeing it at E3 2016, but it’s it a big possibility that we just might.
PlayStation claims that even though there is a new PS4 being made, we will not be seeing it at E3 2016…
New Xbox One Consoles:
Back in May we heard about Microsoft possibly showing off a newer version of the Xbox One that will give us a smaller model of the Xbox One (40% smaller, as a matter of fact), and it will have a 2 TB hard drive. It’s even said that the newer, smaller Xbox One will have a slightly different controller. The redesign will be somewhat similar to when Microsoft released the slim version of the 360. This system we may very well be seeing at E3 2016.
It’s also rumored that Microsoft will release a more powerful Xbox One come next year, offering four times more power, and VR capability. It’s really uncertain whether we will hear anything about this at all at E3 2016.
Nintendo has already stated that they have absolutely no intention whatsoever to show anything on the NX at this year’s E3, but with the rumors of Sony and Microsoft showing off some new hardware, they may have to bring out the big guns on this (we don’t need another conference like Nintendo’s E3 2015 one…). What we know so far on the NX is that it may very well integrate a handheld system with a home gaming system, having both in one. There’s even rumors that the system will go back to cartridge use, like Nintendo’s past systems. The NX is set to release early next year, so one would think that this would be the perfect time for Nintendo to show off their latest console. Many a Nintendo gamer are hoping that Nintendo will surprise us and finally show us the NX at E3 2016.
E3 2016 will take place starting next week on June 14-16. For more detailed dates, click here.
