With the Nintendo Switch right around the corner (less than a month away), many Nintendo gamers are wondering if the Switch will replace the 3DS. For those not in the know (in case you’ve been living under a rock…) the Nintendo Switch is basically Nintendo’s replacement for the Wii U, which regardless of how you spin it, was quite the failed Nintendo home gaming console (**DISCLAIMER** I personally love my Wii U, but I cannot deny the fact that the console did not do well…). With the Switch, you get both a home gaming console and an on-the-go console. With that being the case, it blows the current 3DS out of the water. Screw 3DS when you can take main games on the go with you, games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and more. Everything I’ve seen thus far has me sold on the console, as I already have my system reserved.
Now my question is this: Do you personally thing the Switch CAN replace the 3DS? It’s been noted by Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima that Nintendo would like to make a handheld that targets more of a child-focused demographic. It’s even been mentioned that if the Switch is successful as they hope it will be, there could be a “Switch Slim” in the future. But with the Switch being both a home gaming console and portable gaming device, do we really need a new Nintendo handheld since the Switch can do both? Granted, the Switch isn’t out yet, so it’s hard to say how well if performs as a portable gaming system.
What are you thoughts on the Nintendo Switch, and if it’ll take the place of the 3DS or not? Sound off in the comments!
